Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 September 2026

This policy explains what data 2048 Hexagon collects when you play the game at 2048hexagon.com, why the data is collected, and what control you have over it.

Short version: the game needs no account and asks for no personal details. Your progress stays in your own browser. The only data that leaves your device is the name and score you choose to submit to the public leaderboard. Advertising partners set their own cookies, which you can control.

Who runs this site

2048 Hexagon is an independent, free browser game made by feralonsomaccari. The game is a hexagonal version of the original 2048 by Gabriele Cirulli. The source code is public on GitHub.

For any question about this policy or your data, write to [email protected].

Data stored in your browser

The game saves your progress and settings with the localStorage feature of your browser. This data stays on your device. It is not sent to a server, and it is not readable by other websites.

Name Purpose
savedGame The current board, so you can continue an unfinished game.
lastRadius The last difficulty you played.
maxScore Your best score for each difficulty.
achievements The achievements you unlocked.
theme Your light or dark mode choice.
soundMuted Your sound on or off choice.

To erase all of this data, clear the site data for 2048hexagon.com in your browser settings. The game then starts as new. No copy is kept anywhere else.

The public leaderboard

When you reach a high score, the game offers to add it to the public leaderboard. This step is optional. If you skip it, nothing leaves your device.

If you submit a score, two items are stored on a server:

You choose the name yourself. You do not need to use your real name, and the game never asks for an email address, an account, or any other personal detail.

The leaderboard runs on Google Firebase Cloud Firestore. Google processes this data as a hosting provider. See the Firebase privacy information.

To remove an entry you submitted, write to [email protected]. Name the entry and the approximate date. The entry will be deleted.

Advertising

This site shows advertisements from Google AdSense. Advertising pays the hosting and domain costs and keeps the game free.

Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure advertisements. These cookies can be used to show advertisements based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites.

How to control advertising cookies

Third-party vendors other than Google may also show advertisements on this site. Each vendor uses its own cookies, which the links above let you control.

Analytics

This site runs no analytics service. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, and no visitor profiling by the game itself.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages and served through Cloudflare. Like all web servers, these services record standard request data such as the IP address, the time of the request, and the browser type. This data is used to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse. See the GitHub privacy statement and the Cloudflare privacy policy.

Children

This game is suitable for all ages, and it collects no personal details from anybody. The site is not directed at children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has submitted a name to the leaderboard that must be removed, write to [email protected].

Your rights

Depending on your country, you may have the right to see, correct, or delete the data held about you. Because the game stores almost everything in your own browser, you can do most of this yourself:

For any other request, write to [email protected].

Changes to this policy

This policy can change if the game adds a new feature or a new service provider. The date at the top of the page shows the last change. Significant changes will also be noted on the game page.
